Residents of the Oak Meadow Subdivision and others in the area can expect to see a small Bobcat-like piece of equipment called a "Hydroaxe" mechanically clearing oak brush from about 60-70 percent of the 71-acre project area. A hand crew will also be thinning about 10 acres along the border between BLM and private lands. This work is being done to reduce fuels for possible wildfires, increase firefighter and public safety, and improve wildlife habitat. Fire officials have been coordinating closely with homeowners in the area about the project. For additional information, call (970) 947-2800. ### |
