BLM welcomes new spokesperson

GLENWOOD SPRINGS, CO—The Bureau of Land Management welcomed Public Affairs Specialist David Boyd to its Western Slope staff this week. Boyd will provide communications and media relations support to the Kremmling, Little Snake, White River and Glenwood Springs Field Offices. He will also assist with wildfire information in northwestern Colorado and facilitate activities for BLM’s Northwest Colorado Resource Advisory Council. Boyd is based in the Glenwood Springs Field Office.

“BLM recognizes the importance of its relationships with both internal and external customers,” Glenwood Springs Field Manager Jamie Connell said. “And David Boyd’s in-depth experience and energy for the job will be great assets to BLM.”

Boyd is a Colorado native with a wildlife biology degree from Colorado State University and a journalism degree from the University of Colorado. Most recently Boyd was the public affairs specialist for the BLM Arizona Strip District in St. George, Utah. He also has worked as a public information officer for the Arizona Game and Fish Department, a seasonal wildlife biologist, and a reporter for the Casper Star-Tribune in Wyoming.

Boyd will work closely with BLM Colorado Office of Communications staff based in Lakewood, along with Mel Lloyd, a BLM public affairs specialist based in Grand Junction. With Boyd on board, Lloyd will now support the Grand Junction, Uncompahgre and Gunnison Field Offices, both the Upper Colorado River and Montrose Interagency Fire Management Units, as well as the Southwest Colorado Resource Advisory Council.

Boyd fills the position vacated by Steven Hall, who is now BLM’s public affairs chief in Wyoming. Boyd may be reached at (970) 947-2832 or david_boyd@blm.gov.
