Local Christmas Tree Permits Available Nov. 20
GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colo.— Christmas tree cutting permits will be available from the White River National Forest and the Bureau of Land Management’s Glenwood Springs Field Office beginning Nov. 20. Christmas tree permits will be available from either agency, with some exceptions.
Permits are $10 per tree and may be purchased at any WRNF office or the BLM Field Office in Glenwood Springs, Monday through Friday during normal business hours. Contact your local WRNF ranger district or BLM office for details on when and where the permits will be available. (See below for more information.)
Christmas tree cutting is permitted on most BLM-administered lands within the Glenwood Springs Field Office with the following exceptions: wilderness study areas, Deep Creek along Coffee Pot Road, Thompson Creek Natural Area, and Garfield Creek south of New Castle.
Most areas within the WRNF are open for cutting with the following exceptions: designated wilderness areas, recreation and ski areas, administrative areas and Glenwood Canyon. Cutting within the Dillon Ranger District is allowed only in the Westbound I-70 Scenic Area.
The BLM and Forest Service officials have suggested cutting areas as guides for the public to use. Maps are available when a permit is purchased.

WRNF District Information:
Supervisor’s Office – Permits for the BLM as well as for all districts on the WRNF, excluding the Dillon Ranger District, will be sold from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday, at 900 Grand Avenue in Glenwood Springs.
Dillon – Cutting in the Dillon district may only occur in the Westbound I-70 Scenic Area. For information, call 970-468-5400. The district office is located at 680 Blue River Parkway in Silverthorne, and hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Permits will be sold on weekends, Dec. 2-3, 9-10 and 16-17 at the Westbound I-70 Scenic Area from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. BLM permits will not be sold at the Dillon district offices.
Permits MUST be purchased from the Dillon district or at the Scenic Area in order to be valid in the Westbound I-70 Scenic Area. These permits are not interchangeable with other Forest Service and BLM Christmas tree permits purchased elsewhere.
Eagle/Holy Cross – Cutting can occur on most parts of the district. For information, call 970-827-5715. The Holy Cross district office is located at 24747 U.S. Hwy. 24 in Minturn, and hours are from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The Eagle district office is located at 125 West 5th St., and hours are from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. BLM permits will be sold at the Eagle office but not at the Holy Cross office.
Aspen/Sopris – Cutting can occur in most parts of the district. For information, call 970-963-2266. The Aspen office at 806 West Hallam St. will sell permits Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The Sopris office at 620 Main St. in Carbondale will sell permits Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. No BLM permits will be sold at either office.
Rifle – Cutting can occur on most parts of the district. For information, call 970-625-2371. The Rifle office at 0094 County Road 244 will sell permits Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Permits can also be purchased during evening and weekend hours at Miller’s Dry Goods Store on 118 E. Third Street in Rifle. BLM permits will be sold at the Rifle office.
Blanco – Cutting can occur on most parts of the district. For information, call 970-878-4039. Permits can be purchased at the Blanco district office, 317 East Market Street in Meeker, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. BLM permits will not be sold at the Blanco office.
BLM Glenwood Springs Information:
Permits may be purchased from 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at 50629 Highway 6 and 24 in Glenwood Springs.
