BLM Grand Junction welcomes new recreation program manager

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.—The Bureau of Land Management Grand Junction Field Office welcomed Ken Straley this week as its new supervisory outdoor recreation program manager. Straley was formerly with the USDA Forest Service in Duchesne, Utah, and has an extensive background in recreation planning, biology, and wilderness and trails management.

“I’m really excited about the challenges and opportunities awaiting me in working with the staff in managing this magnificent resource,” said Straley. “I look forward to meeting all of BLM’s partners, cooperators and community leaders who work closely with us.”

“It’s great to have Ken onboard as our new recreation program manager,” said BLM Grand Junction Field Manager Catherine Robertson. “This area holds many of the popular destination points found on public lands of the Western Slope, and the recreation program deserves the leadership and broad expertise that Ken brings with him.”

Straley added that a few of his priorities are to quickly become acquainted with the area’s public land resources, work to strengthen community stewardship, as well as to keep the momentum going on the Field Office’s successes. Straley and his wife, a NEPA specialist for the Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre and Gunnison National Forests, will make their home in Grand Junction.

For further information about the local BLM recreation program or to introduce yourself, Straley can be reached at (970) 244-3031.
