BLM RAC to host public meeting on Roan Plateau
GLENWOOD SPRINGS—The public will have an opportunity to discuss the Bureau of Land Management’s draft Roan Plateau Resource Management Plan and Environmental Impact Statement with the BLM’s Northwest Colorado Resource Advisory Council (RAC). The meeting will be held from 2 p.m. till 6 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 9 at the Battlement Mesa Activity Center, 0398 Arroyo Drive, Parachute, CO.
“The RAC provides citizen input into the BLM’s decisions. This meeting will allow the public an opportunity to speak directly to the RAC to help us provide input that reflects their concerns,” RAC Chair Jeff Comstock said.
During the public meeting, only questions from the RAC members will be accepted.
The meeting schedule is:
· 2 p.m. Opening Remarks, Overview of the draft RMP/EIS
· 3 p.m. Group Presentations. One hour will be equally divided among the groups in attendance.
· 4 p.m. Public Comment, three minutes allotted per speaker.
· 6 p.m. Meeting scheduled to adjourn (additional time may be allowed at the RAC’s discretion)
The RAC is the advisory council for the BLM, composed of 15 members representing a broad range of public land interests, ranging from environmental to local government to commercial activity. The purpose of this meeting is to provide the public with an opportunity to speak to their citizen representatives on the RAC. Public comments on the Roan Plateau draft RMP/EIS should still be made in writing or online to the BLM to ensure consideration as part of the BLM’s formal planning process.
Public comments should provide specific information about the plan to help inform the BLM’s decision-making process. Copies of the Roan Plateau draft RMP/EIS and information on providing input are available in the Glenwood Springs Field Office, 50629 Hwy 6 & 24, Glenwood Springs, CO 81602 or online at www.roanplateau.ene.com.
