BLM Issues Temporary Travel Restrictions in North Park
KREMMLING, CO — The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has issued a temporary travel restriction on the roads leading to the top of Sheep Mountain in the Jackson County and North Park area. The restriction will prevent only motorized vehicle use in the area.
The travel restriction is a combined effort between the BLM and the Division of Wildlife to provide public safety, prevent soil erosion, and protect vegetation on Sheep Mountain. Both agencies worked together to construct buck-and-rail fences to prevent motorized use beyond the restriction boundary. Other forms of recreation such as hiking, backpacking, hunting and camping are permitted in the area and the public will still have access to the parking areas at the base of the mountain.
Routine field checks will occur to ensure that the restriction is honored. The travel restriction will be in place until further notice. For further questions call Stacey Antilla, Outdoor Recreation Planner, 970-724-3039.
