BLM hitting the roads in hybrids

CRAIG, CO—The Bureau of Land Management Little Snake Field Office (LSFO) recently traded in two full-size vehicles for two hybrid sports utility vehicles. By using these fuel-efficient, gas/electric 4-wheel drive vehicles, the LSFO plans to reduce vehicle costs and improve overall fleet mileage, ultimately saving taxpayers’ money.

“These new replacements get about 30 mpg, about double the vehicles they replaced.” Assistant Field Manager Jerry Strahan said. “They are going to be used primarily by the LSFO Energy and Minerals staff so we’re going to be conserving energy while we develop and monitor energy supply projects on public lands in Northwest Colorado.”
