BLM announces temporary trail closures for bike race

GRAND JUNCTION, CO – The Bureau of Land Management Grand Junction Field Office will implement temporary trail closures in Rabbit Valley from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Sunday, May 8, 2005 in support of permitted special recreation during a mountain bike race sponsored by the Mesa State Cycling Club. The temporary closure will affect Trail #2, as well as the main access road that runs west of the Rabbit Valley staging area to the Utah state line.

The temporary trail closures are in support of this special event and are designed to minimize user conflicts on these popular trails. The BLM recognizes the importance of recreation on public lands to the local economy.
