South Shale Ridge oil and gas leasing EA released

An Environmental Assessment (EA) for oil and gas leasing in the South Shale Ridge area has been released for public comment. The EA will provide additional analysis for oil and gas leasing decisions in the area, which is authorized for oil and gas leasing under the 1987 Grand Junction Area Resource Management Plan (RMP).

"While this area has been authorized for oil and gas leasing based on the RMP, we want to ensure that we have done adequate environmental analysis to better inform our decision-making process," Grand Junction Field Manager Catherine Robertson said.

The EA is available online at www.co.blm.gov/gjra/gjra.html, or copies can be obtained at the Grand Junction Field Office, 2815 H Road, Grand Junction, CO 81506. Public comments should be submitted by Aug.12, 2004.
