For Immediate Release: November 30, 2004 BLM to host open house at new Craig buildingCRAIG, CO—The Bureau of Land Management Little Snake Field Office invites the public to an open house at the new BLM building from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 2. The building provides workspace for 40 BLM employees and 20 interagency fire staff. The new Little Snake Field Office replaced the sprawling modular trailers and add-ons originally built in the 1970s. In addition to providing improved facilities for BLM staff and the public, the new building will be more energy efficient, saving thousands in utility costs. “The BLM Little Snake Field Office and the Interagency Fire Dispatch Center are important fixtures in the Craig community,” Little Snake Field Manager John Husband said. “This new building is a positive addition to the image of Craig and the BLM.” The Little Snake Field Office encompasses 3,258,000 acres of federal, state and private lands in Moffat, Routt and Rio Blanco Counties. Of the total area, 1.3 million acres are public lands administered by the BLM and 1.1 million acres of the private and state lands are underlain by federally owned minerals. Resource activities include: wildlife, cultural resources, grazing, minerals, forest products, right-of-ways, paleontological resources, and recreation.
