BLM SELLING CHRISTMAS TREES
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) will be issuing personal use Christmas tree permits from November 1 through December 23 for designated areas on public land within the Royal Gorge Field Office.
Depending on the cutting area selected, the tree species available are: pinyon pine, Rocky Mountain juniper, ponderosa pine, lodgepole pine, white fir, and Douglas-fir. Permits for each tree will be sold for $10.00 with a two tree per household limit. Permits will be issued at the BLM office at 3170 E. Main Street in Canon City between 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
While providing a service to the public, the removal of Christmas trees in specific areas also improves forest health by reducing fuels and tree densities of overstocked forests. Anyone wanting more information or maps of the designated area’s can contact Ken Reed at 719-269-8576 at the BLM office.
