BLM announces plan for grazing permit renewals and land health assessments

GUNNISON, CO—On Aug. 12, 2004, the Bureau of Land Management Gunnison Field Office issued an initial Notice of Public Scoping on prioritizing assessment of public land health and to determine the level of public interest, concern, and resource conditions on each of the allotments up for permit renewal in 2005. The scoping period has now ended.

This notice is to inform the public of the Gunnison Field Office plan for public land health assessment and grazing permit renewals in 2005. This plan to carry out land health assessment and grazing permit renewals was developed giving full consideration to comments and information received from various groups, agencies, and individuals during the scoping period.

In order to present the plan in a clear and concise manner, it has been placed into a table format and is attached for your information. In our initial notice, we indicated that this plan would be posted on the internet no later than October 15, 2004, however, we needed more time to prepare the plan. The plan should be posted on the internet shortly after issuance of this Final Notice. If you have any further information or concerns, wish to be considered as an interested party on a permit or allotment, or wish to be involved in a health of the land assessment, please contact Buddy Green at the address shown above.
