For Immediate Release: April 18, 2003 Hubbard Gulch Earth Day Volunteer Clean-UpThe Bureau of Land Management, US Forest Service and local volunteers are working together to clean up an area near Rifle known as Hubbard Gulch. The area is a popular OHV (Off-Highway Vehicle) and mountain biking area used by many local residents. Unfortunately, it is also an area where trash is illegally dumped. Volunteers will meet at the Forest Service office in Rifle on Saturday April 24th at 8:30. Volunteers should bring a garden rake or shovel, leather gloves, drinking water, snacks and wear long pants, long sleeve shirts, sunblock, hat and sunglasses. Lunch will be provided. Rifle Junior Girl Scout Troop 252 is already signed up to help out. They are working on the highest award Junior Girl Scouts can achieve, the Bronze Star. The Hubbard Clean up, as well as their own clean-up campout in June will count towards the community service hours required for the award. Other youth groups are also encouraged to participate. Adult supervision must be provided. Pre-registration is not required, but is encouraged. Please call the BLM at 947-2800 to sign up, or for more information. -BLM- |
