Compressor station permit approved for Grand Mesa Slopes

The Bureau of Land Management Grand Junction Field Office has approved Evertson Operating, Inc.’s request for a right of way to build a compressor station and short pipeline in the Grand Mesa Slopes Area. The approval is based on an environmental assessment that found no significant impact from the proposal.

The compressor will be located within the TransColorado pipeline corridor, at an elevation of approximately 5,800 feet. The compressor station and pipeline will allow Evertson to test the productivity of one of two gas wells drilled in the area in 2002.

Nineteen wells have been drilled in the Grand Mesa Slopes area since the 1920s. In 1999, the Grand Junction Field Office suspended leasing in the area while the Grand Mesa Slopes Committee, which includes the BLM, recommended additional oil and gas lease stipulations to protect watersheds, wildlife habitat and other natural attributes of the area.
