BLM SEEKS COUNCIL NOMINATIONS

Nominations are being accepted to fill two positions which were recently vacated on the Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) Northwest and Front Range Resource Advisory Councils.

The Councils provides advice and recommendations to BLM on the use and management of of public lands in Colorado. The Councils enable citizens to have a meaningful say in how public lands are managed. Members give advice on the broad array of resource, social, and economic issues that confront land managers and local communities. The councils operate on principles of collaboration and consensus. Members are sought who are committed to working together with other interests for the long term benefit of public lands and the people who enjoy and rely on them. Each council consists of 15 members, representative of a diversity of interests. The positions that are being filled are "Category 3" with two years remaining to be served. Persons qualifying for nomination to positions in Category 3 include: elected officials, academicians, tribal representatives, state agency employees and the "public-at-large."

Council members serve without monetary compensation, but will be reimbursed for travel and per diem expenses. Individuals may nominate themselves or others. Letters of reference from the interests or organizations the nominee wishes to represent must accompany the nomination form. Nominations will be accepted through March 23, 2000 .
