A seagull flies over the California Coastal National Monument which stretches along the entire coast of California and extends 12 miles into the Pacific Ocean.  The Monument includes 20,000 rocks, islands, pinnacles and reefs.

Waucoba-Hunter Mountain Herd Management Area (CA-651)

LOCATION:   The Waucoba-Hunter Mountain Herd Management Area is located in southern Inyo County, CA approximately 30 miles east of Olancha, CA.
 
ACREAGE:     23,000 acres are managed for wild burros

SIZE OF HORSES:     10-11 hands and 400-600 pounds
 
HISTORY:       The burros in this area are believed to from mining operations in the mid-1800s. Historic sheep operations may have also contributed to the burro population.
