Description: Evergreen shrub 1.6 - 3.3 feet (5-10dm), with-out hairs. Leaves oblanceolate to obovate with a smooth edge, and abruptly pointed at the end. The flower head has both ray and disk flowers. Ray flowers number 8-12, with petals 1/8 inch (2-3mm) long. Disk flowers number 10-12, with petals 2/8 inch (5-7mm) long. The combined bracts (phylaries) beneath the flower heads are 4-6mm wide, with 30-40 phyllaries. Fruit is 1/8 inch (3-4.5mm) and brownish. Distribution: Habitat: Chaparral, coastal scrub, clay.
