Description: Distribution: Mono County, California; Mineral and Douglas counties in Nevada. Habitat: Low sagebrush, bitterbrush and mountain mahogany communities usually on open level slopes and ridges in well drained soils of granitic or volcanic origin; at elevations of 7200 - 8400 feet (2400 - 2800 m) Flowering Period: Blooms July - august Similar Plants: Status: BLM Sensitive, California Native Plant Society List 1B Perennial herb, easily identified by it strongly inflated seed pods.
