Description: Annual herb 4 - 12 inches (10-30cm) tall. Leaves spear-shaped, thick, stemless, and with smooth edges. Inflorescence are spike-like. Bracts are spear-shaped, green, smooth edged, and bigger than the flowers. Petals are deep yellow to orange. Distribution: Habitat: Vernal pools (often acidic). Elevation 160 - 2400 feet.
