Solar Parabolic Trough

Rows of long, curved (U shaped) mirrors are tilted toward the sun, focusing sunlight on tubes which contain a heat transfer fluid.  The hot fluid is then used to boil water to produce steam, which rotates a turbine that activates a generator, which produces electricity.  Learn more from the National Renewable Energy Laboratory
