Geothermal

Geothermal power plants use steam produced from hot water resevoirs found miles below the Earth's surface to produce electricity.  The steam rotates a turbine that activates a generator, which produces electicity.  Water can also be injected below the Earth's surface where there are no natural resevoirs to achieve the same results.  Learn more from the National Renewable Energy Laboratory
