Fast Facts

  • The Palen Solar Power Project (PSPP), proposed by Solar Millennium, LLC in partnership with Chevron Energy Solutions, is located 10 miles east of Desert Center in Riverside County.
  • The proposed project is a wet-cooled, parabolic trough solar thermal power generating facility capable of producing 500 megawatts of power.
  • The project’s total footprint covers 5,200 acres of BLM-managed public land and one 40-acre private parcel.
  • PSPP will consist of two adjacent, independent, and identical units of 250-megawatt of energy production.
  • Although the route has not been finalized, the generation-tie line is expected to proceed west from the PSPP to Southern California Edison’s planned Red Bluff Substation.
