Fast Facts

• The Chevron Lucerne Valley Solar Project, proposed by Chevron Energy Solutions of San Francisco, will be located in San Bernardino County, about eight miles east of Lucerne Valley.

• The selected alternative, as analyzed in the Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS), will authorize up to a 45-megawatt solar power project.

• The project will generate enough green energy to power approximately 13,500-33,750 homes.

• The Chevron Lucerne Valley project will utilize photo-voltaic solar technology and when fully built would consist of up to 40,500 solar panels.
   
• The selected alternative's project footprint covers about 422 acres of BLM-managed public land.

• The Chevron Lucerne Valley Solar Project initially will interconnect with the existing Southern California Edison (SCE) 33-kilovolt distribution line, as well as potentially use the remaining capacity in the 33Kv, once SCE's capacity study is complete. 

• The project is expected to generate a combined 48 new jobs during the construction and operations phases.

• Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar approved the Chevron Lucerne Valley Solar Project on October 5, 2010.
