Grizzly Hill - Abandoned Mine Lands Project

Grizzly Hill Sluicebox tunnel outlet portal
The inlet portion of this sluice tunnel exists as a collapsed shaft, representing a physical hazard and safety concern to small children and families using the South Yuba Campground and Primitive Area - a high-level use campground and recreational area. Significant concentrations of elemental mercury have probably accumulated in the residual sediments on the floor of the tunnel.
