A seagull flies over the California Coastal National Monument which stretches along the entire coast of California and extends 12 miles into the Pacific Ocean.  The Monument includes 20,000 rocks, islands, pinnacles and reefs.

Ruth Anne Watling

Pinyon Community Council

Ruth Anne Watling is the representative for the Pinyon Community Council.   Ms. Watling has served on the Pinyon Community Council since 1995 and is a founding member of Friends of the Desert Mountains, the principal nonprofit support organization for the Santa Rosa and San Jacinto Mountains National Monument.  She was previously a member of the Santa Rosa and San Jacinto Mountains National Monument Advisory Committee from 2001 through 2004.  She was also the curator of the gardens at The Living Desert from 1979 to 1989.

Ms. Watling is a consultant on desert habitats and owner/partner of the Watling Company.  she has schooling in business, horticulture, landscape design, botany, public gardens, desert plants and arboriculture.  She was an invited speaker at a science conference in Beijing.
