Robert Brockman is the Santa Rosa and San Jacinto Mountains National Monument representative for the City of Rancho Mirage, Calif. He was the city's director of community development from 1989 to 2006. Before retirement, Mr. Brockman participated in the preparation of the Coachella Valley Multiple Species Habitat Conservation Plan. He has an understanding of the many issues facing the city and the national monument, especially with regards to the many plant and animal species and their habitats.
As a member of the Rancho Mirage community he was involved with the efforts to establish the national monument and participated in the development and drafting of the national monument management plan. Mr. Brockman has a masters' degree in urban planning, as well as considerable planning experience in local government.
