A seagull flies over the California Coastal National Monument which stretches along the entire coast of California and extends 12 miles into the Pacific Ocean.  The Monument includes 20,000 rocks, islands, pinnacles and reefs.

Dawn Wellman

Pinyon Community Council

Dawn Wellman is a resident of the Pinyon communities, which are in the heart of the monument, and represents the Pinyon Community Council.   

As a member of the Wellman family and a part of the Wellman Family Trust cattle allotment, which was written into the national monument legislation, Ms. Wellman has an intimate knowledge and familiarity of the many natural resources and land issues involving the national monument, the Bureau of Land Management and the U.S. Forest Service.

An assistant curator for the Agua Caliente Cultural Museum, she is also a long-time research assistant for Dr. Lowell Bean, a local anthropologist.
