A seagull flies over the California Coastal National Monument which stretches along the entire coast of California and extends 12 miles into the Pacific Ocean.  The Monument includes 20,000 rocks, islands, pinnacles and reefs.

Tom Acuna

Renewable Energy

Tom Acuna is a resident of Encinitas, California and represents renewable energy interests on the council.  Mr. Acuna has more than twenty-nine years comprehensive experience with Southern California Gas Company (SoCal Gas), Sempra Energy Utilities, and San Diego Gas and Electric (SDG&E) involving right-of-way acquisition and management, land engineering, land use planning and entitlement and natural resource compliance.  He also has extensive experience working and collaborating with local, state and federal agencies, jurisdictions and organizations including the Sorrento Hills Community Planning Board and the California Joint Utilities Group.

Mr. Acuna earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from National University and a professional land use certificate from the University of California at San Diego.  He has been a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners and the American Planning Association.
