A seagull flies over the California Coastal National Monument which stretches along the entire coast of California and extends 12 miles into the Pacific Ocean.  The Monument includes 20,000 rocks, islands, pinnacles and reefs.

Alexander Schriener, Jr.

Alexander Schriener, Jr., a resident of Bermuda Dunes, has worked as a professional geologist and resource manager in the geothermal energy industry for 30 years.  For most of that time he has worked in the three largest geothermal fields in the U.S. – The Geysers field in Sonoma and Lake counties, the Salton Sea field in Imperial County, and the Coso field in Inyo County.  He has also performed geothermal exploration in Washington, Oregon, California, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico and Utah.  He has also worked in the environmental assessment and remediation industry.  Mr. Schriener is currently the director of geothermal resources at the Salton Sea geothermal field for California Energy Operating Corporation, a subsidiary  of MidAmerican Energy Holdings Company.

Mr. Schriener earned an M.S. in geology at Oregon State University and a B.S. in geology at the University of Washington.  He is a registered California Professional Geologist.
