Raymond “Ray” Castillo serves as Imperial County Supervisor for District 5 that includes the Imperial Sand Dunes Recreation Area. He was a city councilman and planning commissioner for the City of El Centro and has served or serves on the following boards: Quad State Coalition, Area Agency on Aging, Imperial County Behavioral Health Advisory Committee, and the Imperial Valley College Desert Museum. Supervisor Castillo serves as an elected official in one of the most important regions of the California Desert District. His district encompasses nearly one million acres of BLM-managed public land, including geothermal fields, the Imperial Sand Dunes Recreation Area, the North Algodones Dunes Wilderness and Watchable Wildlife Site, the Tumco Historic Mine, the Indian Pass Road and Wilderness Area, and the Wiley Well District Geode Beds.
