Mary Gorden is a former council chairperson. She spent 20 years as a public school teacher before becoming an educational consultant. She has initiated and organized the Southern Sierra Archaeological Society's site monitoring program for the Bureau of Land Management and a historic cabin restoration project for the Sierra National Forest. She is a volunteer at the Carrizo Plains National Monument and a former director of Project Archaeology, a BLM sponsored educational program. Mary holds a bachelor's and master's degree in education.
