BLM to Host Online Solar Energy Zone Monitoring and Adaptive Management Public Webinar

The BLM will host a public webinar on Wednesday, May 28 from 10:00am to 1:00pm to provide an update and ask for input on the Riverside East Solar Energy Zone Monitoring and Adaptive Management Strategy.

The Riverside East Solar Energy Zone, in eastern Riverside County, was designated as a priority area for utility scale solar energy development in the Programmatic Environmental Impact Statement for Solar Energy Development in Six Southwest States (Solar PEIS). Through the Solar PEIS, the BLM committed to preparing monitoring and adaptive management strategies for Solar Energy Zones to better understand the impacts of solar development on public lands. The Riverside East pilot project is the first of these efforts.

The May 28 webinar is the second opportunity for public engagement, following a two-day public workshop held in December 2013. During the webinar, the BLM will present its refined management questions and monitoring objectives based on input from the December 2013 public workshop, a prioritized list of monitoring objectives, indicators for achieving monitoring objectives, and a monitoring plan outline.

Webinar information and documents will be posted to the project website in advance of the webinar:
