BLM Extends Public Comment Period on Tylerhorse Wind Project

The BLM has extended the public comment period for the proposed Tylerhorse Wind Project in Kern County, Calif.  Public comments will now be accepted until July 25, 2014.

On Friday, July 11, the BLM will conduct a public meeting to solicit comments about their concerns and interests on the proposed project. The meeting will be held at the Hummell Community Building, Room 1, 2500 20th St West, Rosamond, Calif. from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

In April, the BLM published a Notice of Availability (NOA) of the Draft Plan Amendment and Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) for the proposed project—a request for a right-of-way to develop a wind energy facility with a proposed output of 60 megawatts and a project footprint of approximately 1,200 acres. The proposed project would be located on BLM-administered lands in Kern County approximately 15 miles west of California State Highway 14, 12 miles south of California State Highway 58, and 8 miles north of State Route 138.

BLM, as the lead agency under the National Environmental Policy Act, has prepared a Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) to analyze the site-specific impacts of the proposed grant of the ROW and a draft amendment to the California Desert Conservation Area Plan.

Further details about the project can be found  on the BLMs' web page:
