High Fire Potential brings Fire Prevention Group to Desert District

A fire prevention group and additional fire prevention patrols have arrived in the California Desert District to help emphasize fire prevention information and the implementation of Stage III Fire Restrictions.  The implementation of Stage III restrictions began as early as January in some areas throughout the Desert District due to severe drought conditions in the area.

The team will be working to educate the public about current fire restrictions, educating homeowners on creating "defensible space" and patrolling areas to identify hazards or potential dangers.

Under current conditions, the district continues to experience a high potential for large, uncontrollable wildfires. Visitors should be aware of hazardous conditions and be careful with the use of fire. Complete details regarding fire restrictions, including fire restriction area maps, can be found at: Public land users are strongly encouraged to access the information in order to become familiar with the fire restrictions and fire prevention safety tips.

Fire officials are reminding homeowners to "Take Responsibility" and keep 100 feet of clean, open space around their homes to provide defensible space and improve the chance that their homes and families can be protected in an uncontrolled wildfire.
