BLM Plans Pile Burning Project in West Redding Area

Bureau of Land Management fire crews plan to burn piles of brush and limbs in a five-acre section of the Swasey Recreation Area in west Redding, Wednesday and Thursday, Jan. 29 and 30.

Burning will occur only if weather and air quality conditions allow for safe and successful burning and smoke dispersion.

The project area is a mile west of Swasey Drive and a mile east of Mule Mountain. Smoke will be visible from the Centerville area, the Middletown Park Drive neighborhood and Grant School.

The piles were created during BLM hazardous fuels reduction work designed to reduce wildfire risk and improve forest health.

More information is available from the BLM Redding Field Office, (530) 224-2100.
