Alabama Hills Volunteer Work Day Planned

The Alabama Hills Stewardship Group and the Bureau of Land Management's Bishop Field Office will sponsor a volunteer work day in the Alabama Hills on Saturday, Feb. 8, from 9 a.m. to noon.

"We will be rehabbing impacted areas by planting native plants, vertical mulching, delineating walking paths and picking up trash. The work will focus on maintaining and extending previous restoration work in the Alabama Hills," said Martin Oliver, botanist in the Bishop Field Office.

Participants should meet at the corner of Whitney Portal Road and Movie Road at 9 a.m. Please come dressed for outdoor work. Wear closed toe shoes, long pants and bring a hat, sunscreen, water bottle, etc. BLM will provide work gloves and tools. For further information, contact Martin Oliver at (760) 872-5035, mpoliver@blm.gov.
