BLM Ukiah Field Office Lifting Fire Restrictions

With the return of seasonable rainy weather, the Bureau of Land Management today rescinded fire restrictions on public lands managed by the Ukiah Field Office in Lake, Mendocino, Sonoma, Napa, Yolo, Colusa, Glenn and Solano counties.

Easing of restrictions means that campfires can again be used outside of developed campgrounds and posted recreation sites. Campfire permits are required.  They are available at the BLM Ukiah Field Office, 2550 North State St.,Ukiah.

"Even though we've had rain, people still need to be careful with fire," said Tim Jones, fire management officer for the BLM in Arcata. "Fires should never be used on windy days, and it is imperative that campers fully extinguish campfires before leaving a campsite."

More information is available from the Ukiah Field Office, (707) 468-4000.
