BLM Plans Feb. 26 Pile Burning Project near West Redding

Bureau of Land Management fire crews plan to burn piles of brush, limbs and small trees, Wednesday, Feb. 26, in the Swasey Recreation Area near west Redding.

The piles are in a five-acre part of the recreation area about a mile-and-a-half west of Swasey Drive. Smoke is expected to be most visible from Centerville, the Middletown Park Drive neighborhood and Grant School.

The pile burning is part of continuing work in the area to reduce hazardous fuels that could feed a wildfire, and to improve health of the forest.

More information is available from the BLM Redding Field Office, (530) 224-2100.
