BLM Seeking Comments on Butte Creek Bridge Replacement Project

The Bureau of Land Management is seeking public comments on an environmental assessment analyzing the impacts of replacing the Butte Creek Bridge and completing associated road maintenance near Magalia in Butte County.

The environmental assessment examines the impacts and effects of replacing the 79-year-old bridge with a modern structure.

The bridge on the old Ponderosa Way Truck Road, also known as Doe Mill Road, is west of Magalia. Built in 1935, it has deteriorated to the extent that BLM bridge inspectors have reduced its load limit from 15 tons to three tons.

Printed or digital copies of the environmental assessment and the BLM's Finding of No Significant Impact document are available by contacting Bill Kuntz of the BLM Redding Field Office at (530) 224-2157, or by email at wkuntz@blm.gov.

Comments should be sent by March 29, 2014, to:  Bureau of Land Management, 355 Hemsted Dr., Redding, CA 96002, attention Bill Kuntz, or sent by email to Kuntz at the address above.
