85 Students to Participate in Projects at Lost Coast Headlands

A group of 85 high school students will be joined by teachers and staff from the Bureau of Land Management for cleanup and public land improvement projects Friday, April 18, at the Lost Coast Headlands, about five miles west of Ferndale.

The third annual Ferndale High School Service Learning Day will include projects such as weed and brush removal, trail maintenance, erosion control and fence removal.

There will be good photo and video opportunities and interview opportunities with students, teachers and BLM staff.

  • Where: Projects will be on various sites along a four-mile stretch of coastline. The staging area will be the former Centerville Naval Facility site which will be marked with signs.     
  • When: Students begin arriving at 9 a.m. Projects conclude at 12:15.
