Indoor, Outdoor Events Offered at Alabama Hills Day Celebration

Activities including guided field tours, films and project work will be available, when the Bureau of Land Management Bishop Field Office and Alabama Hills Stewardship Group cosponsor the third annual Alabama Hills Day in cooperation with the Lone Pine Film History Museum, Saturday, April 12, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Lone Pine.

The event celebrates the scenic landscape of the Alabama Hills and provides opportunities to learn about and experience the wide variety of activities that take place in the area. The event is being supported by a diverse group of local and regional organizations and stakeholders.

"The BLM has a great partner in the Alabama Hills Stewardship Group," said BLM Bishop Field Office Manager Steve Nelson. "This community-based stewardship group has done a tremendous amount to care for and promote conservation and responsible use of public lands in the Alabama Hills. We look forward to another fun and successful Alabama Hills Day."

Indoor activities are planned for the Lone Pine Convention Center and the Lone Pine Film History Museum. Approximately 35 exhibitors will be set up in the Convention Center. The museum will host exhibits, films and lectures.

Outdoor activities in the Alabama Hills will include guided field tours and a stewardship project.

"This is a great opportunity for locals and visitors alike to explore and enjoy the scenic beauty and public land resources of the Alabama Hills." said BLM State Director Jim Kenna. "The whole family will enjoy the area and learn about community-based conservation."
