BLM to Initiate Temporary Closure of Public Lands for Permitted Race

The Bureau of Land Management, El Centro Office, announces the temporary closure of selected public lands in Imperial County from April 22 to April 27, 2014. The temporary action is being taken to ensure public safety and prevent unnecessary environmental degradation during the official permitted running of the SCORE Imperial Valley 250 Off-Highway Vehicle race events.

Detailed temporary closure information and a map of the race course can be found at: http://www.blm.gov/ca/st/en/fo/elcentro.html. Temporary closures include the Plaster City East, Plaster City West, and Superstition Mountain Off-Highway Vehicle Open Areas

"The public will find excellent vantage points from which to safely view the race in either of two very large, well placed, spectator viewing areas," said El Centro Field Manager Thomas Zale.  "Following regulatory signs and cooperating with race officials and local law enforcement officers are ways spectators can help everybody stay safe and ensure the success of this major off-road race."
