BLM Advisory Council Meets Oct. 24-25 in Point Arena

Topics related to public lands and natural resource management will be discussed when the U. S. Bureau of Land Management's Northwest California Resource Advisory Council holds a meeting and field tour Thursday and Friday, Oct. 24 and 25, in Point Arena.

The meeting begins at 10 a.m. Thursday at Point Arena City Hall, 24000 Highway One. Public comments will be accepted at 11 a.m.

Agenda items include updates on collaborative management efforts along the California coast and in Trinity County, the status of land use planning for BLM-managed lands in northwest California and advisory council organizational matters. Reports from the BLM's state, district and northwest California field offices will be presented.

The Friday field tour to Point Arena-area public lands begins at 8 a.m. at City Hall and ends at noon. Members of the public are welcome on the walking tour.

The 12-member advisory council works closely with the BLM's Northern California District manager and managers of the Arcata, Redding and Ukiah field offices, advising on public land management issues.

Members represent diverse public land interests including timber, recreational users, environmental groups, transportation and rights of way interests, local government and the public at large. The group is one of 29 resource advisory councils advising the BLM in the western states.
