South Cow Mountain OHV Area to be Temporarily Closed during Races

The South Cow Mountain Off Highway Vehicle Recreation Area near Ukiah will be closed to recreation use and through traffic from Friday, April 5, through traffic Sunday, April 7, for public safety during the North Bay Motorcycle Club's Sawmill and Crosscut Family Enduro motorcycle events.

The Bureau of Land Management has granted the club an exclusive permit to use trails around the perimeter of the OHV area for the event.

"We expect as many as 400 participants, all riding at high speeds," said BLM Ukiah Field Manager Rich Burns. "We have to be as certain as we can that no one accidentally gets onto the race course, for their own safety and that of the participants.   The area will be reopened to the public Sunday afternoon when the last participant is off the course."

Information about the enduro events is available from the North Bay Motorcycle Club, www.northbaymc.org/.
