BLM Will Burn Debris Piles in Swasey Recreation Area |
|||||||||||
|
Crews from the Bureau of Land Management will burn piles of brush and limbs in the Swasey Recreation Area near west Redding during the week of Jan. 7. Burning had been scheduled earlier but was delayed because of weather conditions. The debris piles were created during projects to improve forest health and reduce wildfire risk. Crews plan to burn piles all week in a four-acre project area a mile west of Swasey Drive near the Mule Mountain Pass, Escalator and Terminator recreation trails. Smoke will be visible from west Redding, Centerville and the Middletown Park Drive neighborhood. Piles will be ignited only on days when weather allows for safe and successful burning and smoke dispersion. For more information, contact the BLM Redding Field Office, (530) 224-2100. |
