BLM Plans to Burn Piles near Weaverville Sunday, Feb. 17

Crews from the Bureau of Land Management plan to burn debris piles in the Weaverville Community Forest Sunday, Feb. 17.

The piles of limbs and brush, created in projects to improve forest health and reduce wildfire danger, are within a 30-acre area near Oregon Street and West Weaver Road about a mile southwest of Weaverville.

Ignition will begin at about 10 a.m. and continue until 3 p.m.  Smoke will be visible from Weaverville and Highway 299.

The piles will be ignited only if weather allows for safe and successful burning and smoke management.
