The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Mother Lode Field Office today released the Kanaka Valley Management Plan and Decision Record for public review. The plan is posted on the web at www.blm.gov/ca/motherlode The Kanaka Valley Management Plan was developed through a community-based planning process. Kanaka Valley is located in western El Dorado County, California. The habitat consists of a mixture of chaparral, oak woodland and riparian vegetation types, and Kanaka Valley has a high diversity of plants and animals, including several rare plant species that grow nowhere else in the world. “The BLM considers the Kanaka Valley Management Plan to be the best approach to fulfill BLM policy requirements, honor the intent of the acquisition, conserve rare plant species and other sensitive resources, and balance community input from planning meetings,” said Bill Haigh, Mother Lode Field Office manager. To request a hardcopy of the document, contact the BLM, Mother Lode Field Office at (916) 941-3101 or by e-mail at cafokvp@blm.gov |
