Shrub Hike Offered at Fort Ord

The Bureau of Land Management will hold a hike Sept. 22 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Fort Ord National Monument to provide an introduction to shrubs of the Monterey Bay area.

Participants should take the Lightfighter (Fort Ord) exit off Highway 1 and meet in the parking lot on the right hand side of Lightfighter Drive between First and Second avenues (where the thrift store used to be).

“We will drive a short distance onto Fort Ord National Monument and then take an easy walk looking at shrubs as we go. This BLM –led walk is a chance to learn to identify common local shrubs that you might encounter when you are out hiking or biking, no matter what the time of year,” said Sue Hubbard, trip leader.
