BLM Mother Lode Office Plans Pine Hill Preserve Pile Burning |
||||||
|
The Bureau of Land Management’s Mother Lode Field Office plans to burn small piles of brush on the Pine Hill Preserve around Cameron Park next week if weather conditions allow. BLM will burn small piles of brush over five to 10 acres that were created while building fuel breaks, said Brian Mulhollen, BLM fuels management specialist. BLM has been chipping fuels while creating fire breaks and several inches of chips have built up on the ground. The pile burning will reduce the fuel load and make the fire breaks more effective, he explained. For more information, call the Mother Lode Field Office at (916) 941-3101. The Pine Hill Preserve was established to protect rare native plants in El Dorado County that occur on a particular soil type known as gabbro soils. The Preserve has more than 4,000 acres centered on Green Valley Road and stretches from Folsom Lake in the north to Highway 50 in the south. |
