|
A prescribed fire to control the spread of invasive weeds is being planned for later this week on public lands at the Payne Ranch near the junction of California Highways 20 and 16 near the Colusa-Lake county border. Officials at the U. S. Bureau of Land Management’s Ukiah Field Office said they hope to complete the one-day project sometime between Wednesday, June 20 and Friday, June 22, when weather conditions allow for safe and successful burning and smoke dispersal. The project could be completed as late as June 30. The Bear Creek Meadows project will cover about 300 acres near Bear Creek and in parts of Thompson Canyon. Smoke could be visible from the community of Rumsey. BLM crews will be supported by resources from CAL FIRE. For more information, contact the Ukiah Field Office, (707) 468-4000. |
